We work diligently to provide clothing and basic needs to the youth and families of Cleveland County, NC. These simple provisions have been shown to improve classroom focus, self-esteem, and academic performance among kids who receive them.

Our Community Service Projects

As a non-profit organization, we are committed to providing help and support to youth and families in Cleveland County, NC. Each year our board of volunteers works with generous donors to provide for the specific needs of hundreds of families in Cleveland County through these service projects.

The Clothing Room

This is one major service project that JCL works on each year. Donors like you, help us provide a complete wardrobe of new, warm, clothing to hundreds of kids Cleveland County every school year.

Cleveland County Fund for Children & Adults with Disabilities

This is a partnership between the United
Way of Cleveland County and the Junior Charity
League to provide financial assistance to families in Cleveland County. Financial assistance is provided for families to assist with medically necessary equipment and services that the family cannot afford and that insurance will not cover. The fund
also assist with glasses for children when insurance or medicaid will not cover the cost.

Kids On The Block

This is a show presented every year to Cleveland County third graders. Through the use of puppets, the delicate subjects of child abuse, drug awareness, mental and physical disabilities, divorce, and bullying are explored.

Every year the Junior Charity League acquires gorgeous holiday poinsettias and sells them to raise funds for our mission.

“In my 10 years as a School Social Worker with Cleveland County Schools, the JCL Clothing Room is one of my favorite partnerships. For some students, their trip to the JCL clothing room is the only time they get brand-new clothing.  By coming to the clothing room and trying on new clothes with their “personal shoppers”, they get to experience something many of us take for granted.   I’ve had many students ask if they could change into the clothes they just picked!  They are proud of the clothes that they pick out and are excited to show them off at school.   The whole demeanor of a child can change when they have new clothes! ”
